Advisors Assistant Minimum Hardware Requirements
Advisors Assistant is fully compatible with Windows 7.
When considering system requirements, please keep in mind:
- For today’s operating systems (Windows and Windows Server) you should have at least 5 GB free disk space AFTER installing software. Windows needs space for temporary files. Microsoft SQL Server and the Advisors Assistant Database will take 1-2 GB of disk space to install, so you should have at least 6 GB of free disk space available on the computer that will host the database.
- When a program’s minimum requirements are stated, it means the program will run, but if you have minimum memory, and try to run other programs, it will take time for Windows to organize memory because it will not be able to keep all the programs in the minimum memory space.
- The cheapest way to speed up a computer is to add memory.
- Generally, IT professionals say you should never let your server go below 3-5 GB of free disk space after all software is installed.
- Though not published in the Microsoft Requirements, SQL Server does not function on compressed drives.
Single User Advisors Assistant 6
- 600 Mhz Pentium III or better with 5GB free disk space on the local C Drive (10 GB free space if downloading investments.) 1 GB RAM, 2GB+ highly recommended for XP and required for Vista or Win7, or if you're downloading investments.
- DVD drive required (internal or external.)
- Windows XP Professional SP3 or above with the latest Windows Updates installed (do not install on Win XP SP2.) XP Home, Vista Home, and Windows 7 Home versions are not recommended for business applications like Advisors Assistant. These operating systems can be updated from Microsoft.
- Outlook 2003 or later (Outlook 2010 64 bit is not yet compatible.)
- If this computer will be used for Imaging Assistant™ make sure it meets the Imaging Assistant™ specifications.
Network & MultiProducer Advisors Assistant 6
Advisors Assistant 6 will run on a server-based network or a peer-to-peer network.
For the computer storing the database (server or shared computer):
- 600 Mhz (1Ghz recommended) Pentium III or better. 5GB free disk space on the local C Drive (10 GB free space if downloading investments.) Minimum 1GB RAM (Min 2 GB RAM required for Vista, Win 7, Server 2003 or Server 2008). If this computer will also be used as a workstation, and investments will be downloaded using this computer, 2GB RAM is needed.
- DVD drive required (internal or external.)
- Windows XP Professional SP3 or above with the latest Windows Updates installed. Due to network limitations imposed on home operating systems, XP Home, Vista Home, and Windows 7 Home versions are not recommended for network copies of Advisors Assistant and tech support is not provided for these network systems. These operating systems can be updated from Microsoft, or an earlier version of Advisors Assistant can be purchased that works on these operating systems.
- If this computer will be used for Imaging Assistant™ make sure it meets the Imaging Assistant™ specifications.
For the workstation computers:
- 500 Mhz Pentium III or better with 1GB free disk space. Minimum 1GB RAM, 2GB+ highly recommended. Windows XP Professional SP3 or above.
- Outlook 2003 or later (Outlook 2010 64 bit is not yet compatible.)
- If this computer will be used for Imaging Assistant™ make sure it meets the Imaging Assistant™ specifications.
Web Hosted Advisors Assistant
The Advisors Assistant Program is installed to each computer you will use to access the Advisors Assistant Web Hosted System.
- 500 Mhz Pentium III or better with 1GB free disk space. Minimum 1GB RAM, 2GB+ highly recommended. Windows XP Professional SP3 or above.
- Outlook 2003 or later (Outlook 2010 64 bit is not yet compatible.)
